What is the American Students for Israeli Start-ups program?
AS4ISU is an initiative that connects students with Israeli startups for pro bono work as a result of the war. It provides students with hands-on experience and offers startups access to talented students.
How does the matching process work?
Students undergo an interview process with the AS4ISU team to assess their skills and preferences. Based on this information, we match students with suitable startups for a mutually beneficial collaboration.
What types of projects will I be working on?
The projects vary based on the needs of the startups. They could include marketing, research, design, programming, or other areas depending on your skills and interests.
How long does the program last?
This initiative was started as a result of the Israel-Hamas war, so due to the unpredictable nature of the war situation, there is no set duration for the internship and it will vary by company. That being said, a conversation regarding length of the internship should be discussed in the early stages of the internship with your Startup coordinator.
Can I choose the startup I work with?
While we consider your preferences, the final matching decision is based on both the student's and startup's needs to ensure a successful collaboration. Please let your interviewer know of any industry preferences.
What support will I receive during the program?
We provide support throughout the program, including suggestions of best practices and a point of contact for any questions or concerns.
What happens if there are issues with the collaboration?
We encourage open communication. If any issues arise, both students and startups can reach out to us for support, and we will work to address concerns and find solutions.
How can I provide feedback on the program?
We value your feedback! You will have the opportunity to provide feedback through regular check-ins and at the one-month point of the program. Additionally, you can always reach out to our team with any suggestions or concerns.
Can I participate in the program if I have a busy schedule?
We understand that students have other commitments. The program is designed to be flexible, and we work with both students and startups to accommodate schedules. We recommend a minimum of five hours weekly.
Will this experience be valuable for my future career?
Absolutely! The program is designed to provide you with practical, real-world experience that can enhance your resume and contribute to your professional development.
